The "epic novel". Charismatic nationalism and vanguard in Latin America

This essay analyses the Latin American novel of 20th century taking into account the relations between the contemporary political and esthetical trends. The author poses that the most innovating novelistic production is the result of the search of an adequate expression for the Latin American experience of modernity.
