This article addresses the dynamics of the curriculum management of the M. A. Programs of José Simeón Cañas Central American University of El Salvador and its relation with the development of research skills of the students for the preparation of thesis. The research was carried out between October 2018 and December 2019. In order to do this, the authors analyzed the study plans executed during the period 2007-2017. Several organizations and actors relevant to the study were consulted. The research included interviews, focus groups and documentary review, including current university regulations.
