Abstract

This article makes an approach to the process of news production in two national newspapers and state media of El Salvador, identifes how often they receive complaints, comments or questions from the audience, how they are organized to meet the same and establishes causes that do not have an ombudsman. It arises as a result of two investigations that have aimed to know the existence of transparency in news production, the first held in two printed newspapers, and the second in the state media in El Salvador. All addressed media have a hierarchy to decide what is published, do not promote the participation of their audiences, attend promptly to requests for correction or reply, although none have such a procedure in writing and do not have an ombudsman for economic reasons or lack of political will.
