The Mozote never again: debate on the contribution of forensic findings and access to justice in post-conflict El Salvador

Abstract

This article seeks to discuss the contribution of the findings of forensic anthropology to the case of the El Mozote massacre and surrounding areas, mainly from the relationship of their uses for criminal justice and restorative justice. On the one hand, I seek to understand the symbolic contribution of the bodies found in the mass graves, which I consider restores the character of humanity to the people who lost their lives, and on the other hand, I propose to discuss the relationship of the bodies with the territory and the landscape, to conclude with the way in which testimony and forensic evidence take a leading role in the criminal processes of the case at the national and international levels.
