Abstract
The German philosopher Ernst Bloch takes into account the objective conditions to state that both hope and utopia require the participation of the subject. While recognising the links of human activity with material conditions, the philosophical category of possibility, which is a key category in Blochian thought, provides a more fructiferous interpretation of the Principle of Hope.
