Abstract

Entrepreneurship and training for innovation are vehicles through which various topics of global interest are integrated to reach broader audiences; this is particularly true for sustainability and impact assessment. In the educational context, entrepreneurship education served as a vehicle for training in innovation, and today the pairing of “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” is a common consideration (Julien and Molina, 2012). If the interest in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation—with a sustainable focus aimed at contributing to equitable well-being—is part of everyday discourse, how do elements of sustainability relate to the design of entrepreneurial ventures and innovations? What are some of the emerging trends or movements that emphasize sustainability in business development? This opinion piece aims to provide a brief initial response to these questions, encouraging the reader to delve deeper into the sustainable approach to entrepreneurship and innovation—whether still in development or already underway. To this end, we have identified three emerging movements in Latin America that were analyzed at an academic conference held in April 2018.
