The type of political parties during the 2021 campaign in El Salvador

Abstract

This text presents a typology of the political parties that competed in the Central American legislative, municipal and parliament elections in El Salvador in 2021. The characterization of the political parties includes Nuevas Ideas, Arena, FMLN, GANA PCN, PDC, Nuestro Tiempo and Vamos with their antecedents, electoral results, campaign strategies, problems and achievements and finally a conclusion. This writing takes different articles from the “Revista Proceso” of UCA and other digital spaces, that were published by this same author. Finally, this text considers important to systematically document how the political parties that participated in the 2021 electoral process can be classified from a political science perspective.
