Abstract
A study was conducted on the influence of bonding bridges in the repair of concrete block masonry using structural patching. To this end, an experimental design was carried out involving the repair of 30 concrete block specimens; for half of the specimens, standard masonry mortar was used, while for the other half, standard masonry mortar was combined with an adhesive bridge. An additional variable was the chamfer angle of the specimens; thus, for each set of 15 specimens, 5 were repaired with a chamfer angle of 30°, 5 with a chamfer angle of 15°, and 5 with a chamfer angle of 0°. After the bonding mortar had set, the specimens were tested under direct tensile loads. The results suggest that, regardless of the chamfer angle, the tensile strength of the masonry is restored as long as a bonding bridge is used.
