Abstract
An IoT device for monitoring air quality can be a viable alternative for identifying the health risks that may result from air pollutants. For this research project, the goal was to create a remote prototype as a low-cost alternative to specialized monitoring stations. To achieve this, open-source development modules, low-cost sensors capable of performing the necessary measurements, and a free IoT server were selected to enable the sharing of results with the university community. The paper also presents a theoretical description of concepts considered important for understanding the research, clarifying IoT communication models, types of networks, Wi-Fi networks, the application of big data, IoT platforms and modules, as well as concepts related to air quality and its impact on health. The purpose of this is to present these measurements, along with the measurement parameters from the sensors and location data obtained via the GPS sensor.
