Scientific poster

The scientific poster allows sharing the theoretical foundations, methodological aspects, and main results of a scientific research with an open audience of various disciplines, in an environment of constant interaction and creativity that facilitates a deeper approach with the audience. People who wish to present a poster at CONIA can register in the following categories:

  • Category 1: Topics related to process engineering, environment, and energy.
  • Category 2: Topics related to operations management, networks, systems, and communication.
  • Category 3: Topics related to design, structures and materials, and architecture, design, and urbanism.
  • Category 4: Topics focused on education and topics in engineering and community and society.

Regarding the format, the poster should have the following sections:

  • Research Title: Although there is no maximum number of words, the title should be brief and concise, avoiding abbreviations or symbols that are unknown to the audience. If it is necessary to use abbreviations, they must be clearly explained in the title. In addition, a good title should clearly express the object of the research, its purpose, and its specificity.
  • Authors and Affiliation: The list of all authors who have participated in the research, not just in the making of the poster, should be expressed. Next to each name, the affiliation should be indicated with a number, as shown in the example.
  • Introduction or Theoretical Foundation: In this section, the foundations and the theoretical framework that supports the research can be expanded. Since the poster is a visual instrument, it is suggested to minimize the use of text. Organizing the information in schemes or illustrations that facilitate the audience to understand the content is preferred, without forgetting the proper use of references when necessary. If you choose to use the text format, you should try not to exceed 200 words. At the end of the section, at least three specific goals that were taken into account to develop the project should be included. The IEEE format is recommended for references.
  • Methodology: The methodology should express, through schemes, illustrations, or the graphic tool that is deemed convenient, the set of steps or procedures that were necessary to carry out the research. Like in the introduction, the proper use of bibliographic references should not be forgotten and the least amount of text possible should be used.
  • Results: This section should show the most relevant results of the research. Like the introduction and methodology, the use of visual tools (graphs, images, tables, etc.) is preferred over text. Since the poster allows for greater interaction with the audience, the discussion of the results can be carried out during the exhibition.
  • Conclusions: The conclusions should respond to the specific goals that were set to develop the research and should be based on the results. This section, unlike the previous ones, can be presented in the form of text, in a paragraph, or through bullets.
  • Recommendations: In this section, important aspects should be mentioned that allow continuity to the line of research proposed by the authors. Like the conclusions, recommendations can be written in a single paragraph or in bullets.
  • References: The bibliographic references section should contain the sources linked to all the citations that were placed on the poster. As a minimum, it is suggested to have 5 references from reliable sources (scientific articles, books, theses, etc.) in IEEE format. To minimize the use of space, these can be presented in a separate document that can be accessed through a QR code on the poster.
  • Presentation: It is suggested to take a maximum of 5 minutes to present the complete content of the poster. After this time, the authors can interact with the audience and answer their questions. To facilitate time management, it is suggested that there be a maximum of two presenters.

The general format and design will be provided by the CONIA Organizing Committee. To be accepted at CONIA, authors must send an abstract of 500 words and a maximum of 6 keywords to describe their research. Each poster will be submitted to a contest that will award recognition by category.t will award recognition by category.
